Sanditon
I thought there was only one version of Sanditon, the 2019–2023 BBC adaptation written by Andrew Davies. But apparently there was a 2014 version that I never heard of. Sanditon is one of the two unfinished novels that Austen left at her death, the other being The Watsons. She progressed farther with Sanditon than The…

The Watsons
There are no existing adaptations of Jane Austen´s unfinished novel, The Watsons. But Andrew Davies has plans to adapt it, as well as new versions of Emma (from Jane Fairfax´s POV) and Mansfield Park. I am dubious after his not-very-good series based on Sanditon. See the link above for more info.

Lady Susan
There is only one adaptation of Lady Susan, Whit Stillman’s 2016 film entitled Love & Friendship (taken from the title of one of Austen’s juvenile stories, “Love and Freindship”). Stillman’s Metropolitan has a loose affiliation with Austen’s Mansfield Park but this is a genuine adaptation. And it’s funny. Beckinsale is far more suited for this…

Persuasion
Jane Austen’s last novel is more somber and less humorous than the others. Some consider it her best book. All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.

Northanger Abbey
Northanger Abbey is the least discussed Jane Austen novel. I love it. Henry Tilney is the only Austen hero with a sense of humor. All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.

Emma
Emma Woodhouse is perhaps Austen’s most flawed heroine. I have a soft spot for her after reading the novel a bunch of times (it was assigned reading in multiple lit classes in college). All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.

Mansfield Park
Fanny Price of Mansfield Park is Austen’s most controversial heroine. Modern audiences tend to find her prudish. This leads film and tv producers to alter her character to make her more modern. I’m still waiting for someone to do a faithful version of MP. All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb…

Pride & Prejudice
Pride & Prejudice is Austen’s most famous novel and probably the most adapted. All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.

Austenmania
Every generation gets their own Jane Austen stories. She’s always been popular but Austenmania began in earnest in the mid-90s with a series of Austen adaptations: Sense & Sensibility, Emma, Persuasion, Mansfield Park. The BBC did a 6-part adaptation of Pride & Prejudice that led the charge, with a swoonworthy Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.…
