Emma

Emma Woodhouse is perhaps Austen’s most flawed heroine. I have a soft spot for her after reading the novel a bunch of times (it was assigned reading in multiple lit classes in college). All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.

  • Emma (1948) — Early BBC live tv production starring Judy Campbell as Emma. No recording exists.
  • Emma (1954) — Kraft Theatre production live NBC broadcast starring Felicia Montealegre as Emma.
  • Emma (1957) — Matinee Theater live tv production on NBC starring Sarah Churchill as Emma.
  • Emma (1960) — Live BBC serial in six parts, with Diana Fairfax as Emma, David McCallum as Frank Churchill. Believed to be lost.
  • Emma (1960) — Camera Three live broadcast on CBS starring Nancy Wickwire as Emma.
