Fanny Price of Mansfield Park is Austen’s most controversial heroine. Modern audiences tend to find her prudish. This leads film and tv producers to alter her character to make her more modern. I’m still waiting for someone to do a faithful version of MP. All the television and movie adaptations of the novel on IMDb are listed below, excluding podcasts, audio books and shorts.
- Mansfield Park (1983) — 6 episode BBC series starring Sylvestra Le Touzel as Fanny, Nicholas Farrell as Edmund. This one is allegedly the most faithful to the novel.
- Mansfield Park (1999) — Theatrical film written/directed by Patricia Rozema that turns Fanny into Lizzie Bennet, more or less. With Frances O’Connor as Fanny, Jonny Lee Miller as Edmund Bertrum, Alessandro Nivola as Henry Crawford.
- Mansfield Park (2007) — ITV series with Billie Piper as Fanny Price. As usual, Fanny is not very Fanny-like and Blake Ritson is too much of a drip for Edmund.
- From Mansfield With Love (2014) — UK web series done vlog style. Frankie Price is a maid in a fancy hotel. 100 episodes.
- Ask ve Gurur (2025) — Turkish tv series based on not sure which novel. The title translates to ‘Love and Pride’ but the short description sounds like Mansfield Park. The plot summary on IMDb doesn’t sound like any Austen novel I know. If anybody knows which book this is based on, drop me a comment.
